Just a Kansas Family

with a dream

Welcome to Home Sweet Home Cafe & Cakery! Our family run restaurant is located in the quaint little town of Lanesboro, MN. After several years of visiting, we decided to make it our home. Our entire family plays an important role in our operation.

Alan, Elizabeth, [Liz] Gregory, & Emily Mason all now work and live in a small town much the same as the one they left in Kansas. Alan’s background was extensive in farming, all working motors [fixing and operating] from chainsaws to cranes, and Professional Fireman at Salina Airport Authority. Liz’s background in all things restaurant from baker/ manager/ pastry chef/ owner and the last 30+ years had her own professional cake business. Gregory had graduated high school with Honors and had finished one year of college before his program was canceled. Emily was just entering Jr. High school. The little building had much to offer and they decided to pull up roots and start again with a great adventure. Alan and Liz are partners in the kitchen and business aspects, Gregory is our dining room manager and head waiter and Emily helps wherever needed. You may see her in the dining room, or kitchen.

We have much to offer with an everyday menu. We feature a wide variety of breakfast options, [served all day]. Lunch, [soup, burgers, salads, sandwiches] and different daily specials, plus Fri and Sat night evening supper specials. Along with great food, we offer a large display case filled with several varieties of dessert to choose from. They vary from week to week, but offer at least 1 GF [gluten free] option. There is another case that displays several different types of cookies , scones, Mississippi mud brownies, and Paleo brownies. We also have sweet rolls available. All of our food and baked goods are made in store and from scratch.

We are licensed caterers and Liz is a Professional Cake Artist. Order birthday, wedding or all occasion cakes. We also accept special dessert orders.

We are currently in the process of applying for our liquor license. Beer and wine will be on the menu standard, with drink specials featured daily to accompany food specials of the day. We will update this ASAP- stay tuned.
